Wise move from Tim Sweeney, he’s raising the bar again! Epic’s introduction of the Unreal Editor, which includes the complete capabilities of the Unreal Engine for Fortnite, is not only an attempt to out-Roblox, but also to get a large percentage of the 600 million individuals that play metaverse types of experiences to rediscover Epic’s end-to-end digital ecosystem for developers and creators to build, distribute, and operate games and other content including creation tools for the metaverse.

Unity and Unreal Engine are currently the two greatest tools for metaverse development. The metaverse is a bold and appealing vision, and finding product-market fit is only one part of this battle royale. Companies that are immersed in product distribution are also needed in the sector. Epic is focusing on how to reduce friction in their product and turn it into a competitive advantage.
It will be fascinating to see what creators will accomplish with the release of the Unreal Editor later this year!
